Each year several million shearwater birds migrate from the Aleutian Islands around Alaska and North East Russia to the coast of California before crossing the Pacific Ocean to their breeding sites in South East Australia. They travel over 15,000 kilometres. Many thousands of shearwater bird carcases were found washed up on our shores in years past.
The constant battle in attempting to repair environmental damage seems at time to be impossible to win. With communities working together, however small the attempts, change can be made. This little forest community illustrates everyday life challenges while striving to live in a peaceful and sustainable way.
